An interview with Amy Dacyczyn

We had to do some work on our house this fall, so I'm trying to bulk up our emergency fund again. I've been rereading and taking notes on Amy Dacyczyn's The Tightwad Gazette, and looking for ways to reduce our spending. So it was fun to see this recent video interview of her! For anyone who hasn't heard of her or read her books, this is probably a great time to get acquainted.

I FINALLY got The Gazette from the library and renewed it until I couldn't anymore! I still didn't get through it all.

I started using powdered milk when cooking and we are going through so much less milk now. No one has noticed a difference at all and I even got both kids to drink it one day. Neither one noticed!

Glad you like the book! I don't really like the taste of powdered milk but it's fine for baking and smoothies. She talks about mixing whole milk/dried milk so perhaps that is worth a try.

Ms. Dacyczyn's advice is timeless. More men need to get involved in the frugal lifestyle.

She is and was such an inspiration to me. I like her "can do and make do" attitude. Powered milk is fine for baking. Kids don't need all the latest whatevers to be loved and well cared for. Hunting for bargains can be fun!
